48-Passenger Coach Bus

A full-size motorcoach for forty-four to forty-eight: student groups, Greek organizations and any trip where a name gets checked at the door.

The short answer

Is 48 seats the right size?

Forty-four to forty-eight, on the first true full-size motorcoach in the range.

One door and one roster is the quiet advantage here. For a student group or a chapter trip, a leader standing at the door with a list — at the first boarding and every one after — is what stops somebody being left a hundred miles from campus. Dual restrooms, a refreshment area, reading lights, a media system, screens, Wi-Fi and big luggage bays underneath.

Forty-five or forty-six rides just as well on the 46-passenger coach bus. If forty-nine or fifty have signed up, take the 50-passenger coach bus.

Amenities vary slightly by vehicle, so tell us your must-haves when you request a quote.

A look at the 48-Passenger Coach Bus

The first true full-size coach in the range: two restrooms, a refreshment area and room for forty-eight.

Student trips from ASU and GCU, company-wide meetings that hop between hotels and a venue, full-day tours that want the comfort.

Board against a printed list or wristbands, because counting heads by eye stops working at this size. If people tend to show up without signing up, book the 50 rather than hoping this one stretches.

The experience

What the trip is like on the 48-passenger coach bus

Student groups board against a printed list or wristbands rather than a rough headcount. It takes ninety seconds and it means nobody gets left at a rest stop.

For a company meeting, the coach runs early and late trips back to the hotels on set times, and the two restrooms keep the lines short between sessions.

On a tour day, people grab a drink from the refreshment area while the coach sits at an overlook and your driver keeps an eye on the road.

The 48-Passenger Coach Bus gives you two restrooms, a refreshment area and forty-eight seats. It's the coach for student groups and company outings where everyone leaves together, comes back together, and a name gets checked at the door.

A scenic multi-day tour is often happier on the 46. If people tend to show up on the day without signing up, the 50 has the room for them.

It runs student trips from ASU and GCU, company-wide meetings that hop between hotels and a venue, and full-day tours for groups that want the comfort.

Local numbers

Why student groups get caught out

Student organizations book buses the way they book everything: late. The problem is that there are nothing like as many motorcoaches as there are Sprinters — only about one group in fourteen we hear from is over thirty passengers, and fleets are sized to that reality.

Groups this size usually reach out about two months ahead. Chapters that call three weeks out are picking from what nobody else wanted.

The academic calendar makes it worse. February through May carries nearly half the year's requested dates, and it's also formals, retreats, spring break service trips, commencement and end-of-year banquets. A club needing forty-eight seats for a graduation weekend in April is in line behind prom, weddings and spring training. Book at the start of the semester. The same coach handles campus ministry retreats, festival trips, away-game fan buses and move-in shuttles.

Sizing

Size up or size down?

The 46-passenger coach bus is the largest of the mid-size coaches and very nearly equivalent — take it if your list is genuinely capped at forty-six.

The 50-passenger coach bus adds two seats, which is the usual choice when people tend to turn up without signing up. Don't book a student group at exact capacity. If forty-eight sign up, fifty will show, and the forty-ninth person doesn't board.

For a formal with a dance floor, the 45-passenger party bus is the largest party bus we run, and some groups pair the two. A full-size motorcoach needs a real bus stop — campus transit bays, stadium lots, hotel coach lanes. Around ASU, the lots near Sun Devil Stadium and Gammage are the usual pickup points.

Local know-how

Phoenix tips for this vehicle

  • If people might show up unannounced, book the 50 rather than hoping this one stretches.
  • Student travel needs one person on the ground with a printed list.
  • For a company meeting, send the agenda end times for the trips back.
  • For a tour, ask each stop how long a coach is allowed to wait. Some parks and overlooks set a limit.

Booking a coach this size

  • Send us the breakdown by dorm or club with the request.
  • Agendas with session end times go to your driver.
  • For a tour, tell us how long you want at each stop so we can plan the day.
  • Confirm availability early. There aren't many coaches this size.

Behind the wheel

Safety and your chauffeur

  • Student lists are checked against IDs or wristbands.
  • The coach home waits for your trip lead's all-clear, not for individual texts.
  • At overlooks, your driver watches the traffic whenever cars are moving nearby.

48-Passenger Coach Bus FAQ

Straight answers on minimum hours, deposits, what is included, and what to bring.

Leaving someone behind. It sounds obvious right up until forty-eight students are reboarding after a festival in the dark and everyone assumes their friend is already on. A leader with the list at the door, at the first boarding and every one after, takes ninety seconds and removes the single worst thing that happens on student trips.
Your university may require it. A lot of campuses ask registered organizations to use approved vendors or to file a travel form with proof of the operator's insurance. Check with your student activities office first, then tell us what they need when you request the quote. Sorting it early avoids a scramble for signatures the week of the trip.
Book with a cushion and set a hard sign-up deadline before your own change deadline, which is in your written quote. Forty-eight seats comfortably covers a list of forty-four that's still growing. What doesn't work is a list of forty-eight that's still growing — at that point you're choosing between the 50 and a second vehicle.
At designated bays, yes. Universities control their own internal roads and many are closed to outside vehicles, so the pickup point is usually a transit bay or a large lot rather than outside your building. Ask the campus event or transportation office for the approved spot and send it to us with the booking.
Ask us about the rules for your booking, and check your organization's own policy first, because it's usually stricter than anything else involved. Your national office or student affairs office will have a position on transportation to events. Get that clear before you sell seats, not after somebody arrives at the curb with a cooler.
It's a good fit. Tucson is under two hours, Las Vegas is five to six. Dual restrooms matter on the longer runs, and the bays underneath take coolers, chairs and tailgate gear where stadium lots allow it. Tell us the venue when you book, because tailgating rules in charter lots vary a lot from one stadium to the next.
Divide the total by a number slightly below capacity — forty-four rather than forty-eight — so a few no-shows don't leave the organizer covering a gap. Collect before the deposit is due, not after. And make the sign-up deadline real: the cost doesn't drop if twelve people quietly decide not to come.
