Is 10 seats the right size?

Seven to ten travelers, or six to eight once luggage is involved. Every seat faces forward with armrests and extra legroom, which is what a two-hour drive asks for.

Wi-Fi, power and USB at every seat, a flat-screen display, overhead bins and a refreshment center. Site tours, client visits, golf days and airport transfers are what it does.

Six or fewer travelling light, the 8-passenger executive Sprinter is enough. Ten people with ten suitcases, or an eleventh traveler on the horizon, and you want the 12-passenger executive Sprinter.

Ten colleagues, one quiet cabin

Your driver arrives early, says hello and handles the luggage while everyone settles into a forward-facing seat with an outlet already at hand. Give them one contact in the group and the day runs on one set of instructions.

This is for eight to ten people moving between meetings, resorts and the airport together. It adds room over the eight-seater without becoming a coach, and it is built for conversation and laptops rather than lighting.

Plan the headcount and the luggage together. Ten people with nothing to carry is a different vehicle from ten arrivals with roller bags and a pitch case. Send both numbers, and compare the 12 if storage would otherwise take the back row.

For a multi-meeting day, sequence downtown, Biltmore and Scottsdale so you are not doubling back. Send each building's loading instructions and a realistic end time for every meeting — a ten-minute curb assumption fails when a campus requires a security check-in.

When to ask for a Phoenix day trip

Most of the year a month's notice is plenty. That's about where the typical Phoenix inquiry lands, and weekday business work is rarely a problem at all.

February and March are the exception. The Phoenix Open, spring training and peak resort season stack on top of each other, and vehicles go early. If you're planning a golf trip, a desert tour for visiting clients or a wine-country day in that stretch, give yourself more than a month.

Summer runs the other way. Barely a fifth of the year's dates fall in June, July and August, so a corporate visit in high summer can often be arranged in a week or two, with the widest choice of vehicles you'll get all year.

Size up or size down?

The 8-passenger executive Sprinter is the same cabin with two fewer seats, right for a team of five or six. The 12-passenger executive Sprinter gives a group of ten the spare seats that luggage and golf bags always end up needing.

If the day finishes with a celebration dinner, some groups book this for the daytime and a 10-passenger limo Sprinter for the evening.

Against a limousine, the executive Sprinter is easier to board, better for backs on a long drive and more discreet outside a client's office. It fits anywhere a delivery van fits: office visitor lots, resort valet lanes, winery gravel lots in the Verde Valley, trailhead pullouts. Ten shares split cleanly for a golf group, and companies usually book it as one line item.

Phoenix tips for this vehicle

  • Coordinate the drop-off time with your resort's event team. Scottsdale porte-cochères get busy and they will tell you when to arrive.
  • Book at least two weeks out for January through March, which is conference season here.
  • For Sedona with 10 travelers, leave by eight in the morning or you lose the day to the drive.
  • Send flight numbers for a Sky Harbor pickup and we will track the arrival.
  • Summer is the quiet season, so short-notice dates are far easier between June and September.

Not for ten golfers. Bags are bulky, and this cabin stores luggage in overhead bins plus whatever floor or rear space the layout leaves. Six to eight golfers with bags is the realistic range. Tell us how many players, how many bags and whether the clubs are in hard cases, and we'll confirm or move you up.
Yes. It's about two hours each way, and forward-facing seats with armrests and legroom are exactly what that drive asks for. Everybody gets a window as the red rocks come up. Uptown Sedona parking is tight for anything large, and a Sprinter handles it far better than a bus. Plan on a full day.
