Anthem's one genuine transport problem is that the good stuff is a long way down I-17. Thirty-five miles to Old Town, about the same to the stadium, and that mileage lands on your rental clock twice. The pickups are the easy part of an Anthem booking. Parkside streets are wide, the cul-de-sacs have room, and a full-size bus loads at the curb in front of most houses. The Country Club side is guard-gated, so whoever's hosting registers the vehicle as a guest for that date.
If your group is spread across four households, pick one house and make everyone drive to it. Four driveway stops costs 40 minutes, and from here that's the difference between making dinner and skipping it. Anthem Community Park works when no one's house has room.
After that it's I-17 and only I-17. Downtown Phoenix and the arenas are about 35 minutes without traffic, Old Town closer to 45, and State Farm Stadium a similar run west on the 101. Peoria is the nearest place with a real restaurant and bar district when you'd rather not go all the way in.
The ride counts both ways, so a four-hour booking aimed at Scottsdale leaves about two and a half hours there. For a game day, five is the honest number.

How Anthem prom groups should plan
Half of all Valley prom inquiries are for April dates, and the median family asks about three weeks ahead. Those two facts fight each other. Boulder Creek's date lands on the same handful of Saturdays as every other school in the Valley, and by three weeks out the mid-size buses are gone.
So the move is simple: request the prom bus the week the school posts the date, not the week of dress shopping. Six weeks out puts you ahead of nearly everybody.
On size, prom groups run bigger than any other occasion we handle, and the list always grows once dates get added. Book for the group you'll probably have. Most prom quotes we write are for a party bus rather than a limo, mainly because twenty-odd students don't fit anything else. The same logic applies to a homecoming in the fall, on far easier nights. Traffic around Anthem
I-17 is the only road that matters, and it has two bad habits. Friday afternoon northbound fills with people escaping to Flagstaff, and Sunday afternoon southbound is the same crowd coming home, which is worse. Weekday mornings between the Carefree Highway and Deer Valley are slow in the ordinary way. Evenings out are clean. We build the departure around your direction, not around the clock.

The elevation here buys a real few degrees, so an Anthem evening in May is pleasant while the Valley floor is still radiating heat. That cuts both ways in winter, when it's genuinely cold outside at pickup, so send the prom group out with something over the dresses for the photo half hour. Summer is Valley summer: we load after dark and keep every stop door to door.
