Every trip starts the same way: John Wayne Parkway onto SR 347, north through the Gila River Indian Community to I-10. Seventeen miles with essentially no alternative. One crash or a lane restriction adds twenty minutes without warning, which is why anything with a fixed start time gets a cushion built in.

The city republishes state restrictions for the 347 alongside its own road work, worth a look the week of your trip rather than the morning of.

Pickups themselves are easy — the subdivisions have wide streets and room to turn. Province is gated and 55-plus, so let the gate know what's coming, and its clubhouse lot makes a tidy single meeting point.

Distances decide your hours. Downtown Chandler is twenty-two miles and half an hour, Sky Harbor around thirty-three, downtown Phoenix thirty-five, and Old Town a bit over forty — fifty-five to sixty-five minutes on a weekend evening, so a Scottsdale round trip spends two hours before you step off. Four hours or five from Maricopa

Two thirds of Valley groups ask for four hours. That standard was built for somebody who lives fifteen minutes from their first stop — which, if you're reading this in Maricopa, isn't you.

With most of an hour of road on each end, four hours buys the event and little else. So anything with a fixed start — a flight, a tip-off, a ceremony — gets a fifteen to twenty minute cushion built into the pickup rather than hoped for.

Maricopa weather

It runs a touch hotter down here than central Phoenix, and afternoon pickups in June and July are unpleasant standing outside, so we get the cabin cold before you board. Pack more water than you think for a long ride north. Winter is the easy season, mild days and cool evenings that make an outdoor stop genuinely nice.

It's around thirty-three miles, normally forty to fifty minutes, but the 347 is least predictable during the morning commute and that's when most flights leave. One Sprinter also beats parking three cars for a week, which people forget to count.
Budget about an hour each way and five or six hours total. Downtown Phoenix is roughly thirty-five miles, and the arena directs group vehicles to specific drop-off points that shift by event. Tell us the event and the start time, and we'll set a departure that gets you in before the lines rather than during them.
Downtown Chandler, more often than anywhere else. It's about half an hour, and the restaurants and bars are packed into a few walkable blocks, so the booking is spent celebrating instead of riding. Mill Avenue runs around forty minutes and Old Town closer to an hour. The nearer you stay, the more night you actually get.
Yes, though each extra stop costs eight to twelve minutes once you count someone running back inside for a phone charger. Two stops is fine. Four turns into its own event. If your group is spread across the city, pick one house or the Copper Sky lot and have everybody meet there instead.
